Polestar, the electric vehicle manufacturer, has officially unveiled its inaugural smartphone in collaboration with Chinese tech company Meizu. The Polestar Phone isn’t entirely original, as it’s based on the Meizu 21 Pro model with slight modifications and visual enhancements, such as the signature yellow accents around the camera LED flash ring and the Polestar logo on the back and side rails. Boasting an impressive array of features, it includes a 6.79-inch 120Hz LTPO OLED display with a peak brightness of 1,850 nits.
Powering the Polestar Phone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, accompanied by 16GB of RAM, 1TB of internal storage, and a hefty 5,050mAh battery supporting 80W wired, 50W wireless, and 10W reverse wireless charging. The device comes bundled with a charger and a unique Polestar-branded protective case, both boasting an IP68 rating.
Equipped with a triple camera setup at the rear, comprising a 50-megapixel main sensor, 13-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 10-megapixel 3x telephoto zoom lens, the Polestar Phone also features a 32-megapixel selfie camera housed within a central screen punch-hole. Additionally, it incorporates an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner for biometric security.
Meizu has designed a theme that mirrors the aesthetic of the recent Polestar app update, ensuring a seamless integration with the brand’s vehicles. Moreover, the device directly syncs with the Polestar 4 SUV, where it was unveiled alongside. Although it touts a UWB digital key function, its availability at launch for the electric vehicle remains unclear.
Regrettably, the Polestar Phone is exclusively available in China and can only be ordered via the Polestar application in the region. However, it’s listed as a Google Play supported device, hinting at a potential limited release in other regions in the near future. Nevertheless, this special edition device comes with a hefty price tag of 7,388 yuan, approximately $1,020 based on current exchange rates.
